Advance America Attends Kick-Off Meeting for the African American Mayors Association

Advance America recently attended the kick-off meeting for the newly incorporated African American Mayors Association (AAMA), an organization representing over 500 African American mayors and over 48 million constituents across the United States. Advance America is proud to have attended the event as one of the inaugural members of the association’s business council, supporting its mission to enact public policies that benefit the vitality and sustainability of cities.

The meeting, held in Washington, DC, brought together the board of trustees and sponsors for the organization, White House officials, and the mayor of Washington, DC, among others, to commemorate the launch of AAMA.

Ron Hicks, senior director of community outreach, attended the meeting on behalf of Advance America. In his remarks before the association, Hicks discussed AAMA and Advance America’s shared commitment to making a positive impact in local communities.

“Advance America takes great pride in investing time and resources to causes that are important to the communities that we serve,” said Hicks. “We look forward to working with AAMA to support issues that will benefit their constituents and communities.”

Joining the AAMA’s business council is part of Advance America’s effort to partner with elected officials to demonstrate the value of short-term credit and the positive impact our company has on local communities. Through our national community outreach program, we work with more than 100 local nonprofit organizations and national foundations to promote academic achievement, job training and financial literacy, among other programs.
